What is CBD?
Good question. CBD is short for Cannabidiol, which is one of 113 naturally occurring compounds (cannabinoids) found in hemp, a strain of the cannabis plant. Like many natural plants, the right variety of hemp can promote everyday wellbeing.
How does CBD work?
CBD is a cannabinoid which interacts with the receptors in the human body’s endocannabinoid system. These receptors regulate the body’s essential functions in everyday life, from appetite and digestion, to sleep and mood.
CBD helps these receptors to maintain a natural balance, which in turn supports mental health and body wellness.
Will it get me 'high'?
Let’s clear something up. Unlike THC, CBD-rich hemp doesn’t produce the psychoactive effects commonly associated with other varieties of cannabis and marijuana. This makes it legal, safe, and doesn’t give you the ‘high’, allowing you to harness the benefits of CBD while being in complete control.
Are CBD and THC the same thing?
Let’s bust some myths. Both CBD and THC interact with the body’s natural cannabinoid receptors, so it’s easy to confuse the two. However, their effects are very different.
While THC delivers the 'high', CBD is reassuringly non-psychoactive, meaning it can be taken without the side effects associated with marijuana. All of our products go through stringent testing to ensure they’re THC free.
How should I take CBD?
We make CBD in a variety of formats from oils and sprays to edibles and cosmetics. Whilst each format can affect you in a slightly different way, ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.
Edibles and cosmetics are often a top choice for those just starting on their CBD journey, whilst oils and sprays are most talked about and thus, most popular amongst those who take CBD on a regular basis.
What is the most common method of taking CBD?
The most popular method of taking CBD is through CBD Oils. To allow the oils fully absorb, place a few drops of concentrated CBD oil under your tongue and hold them there for around 60 seconds before swallowing.
As well as placing the drops under the tongue, you can also swallow the oil, or add the drops to a fat source like peanut butter.
Is there a limit to how much I can take?
When it comes to CBD, some people are likely to have a higher tolerance than others. It’s about finding what works best for you, both in terms of how often you use it and how much you take.
- We recommend introducing CBD into your life gradually, starting with 10mg twice per day.
- After a week, depending on how you respond to the dosage, you can consider doubling the dose to 20mg twice per day.
- From here, you can increase as desired up to a maximum daily dose of 70mg.
Will CBD help me with my illness?
Love Hemp products are intended to promote everyday health and wellbeing. They are not to be used to treat, cure or prevent illnesses. As always, you should consult with your doctor before trying any new supplements or medications to ensure that you are safe to do so.
Is CBD legal?
Yes. CBD is legal in the UK, the EU and the US.
Are there any negative side effects?
According to the World Health Organisation, CBD is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile. However, it may cause adverse reactions in some people.
Reported side effects include dry mouth and drowsiness, and it can cause a small drop in blood pressure. You should consult your doctor if you experience any adverse side effects after taking our products.
Why are products derived from hemp so expensive?
All Love Hemp products go through extensive manufacturing processes and are tested by certified third party laboratories to ensure the highest quality CBD for our customers.
The process - from the initial extraction of the natural oils from the hemp plant to the production of the final product - is both a complex and costly journey, and only the highest quality ingredients are used. However, our prices are some of the most competitive on the CBD market – bringing you premium CBD products at reasonable rates.
Can I make CBD-rich brownies?
Adding CBD to tasty treats isn’t uncommon. For the best results, you can infuse CBD oils with olive oil, coconut oil, or the oils you would usually use to bake with.
What are CBD edibles best used for?
CBD edibles break down much slower than other alternatives. While the effects are less intense, they last longer, and so we recommend trying edibles if you’re looking for a gradual release.
How much CBD is in an edible?
Every brand is different, but dosages can range from 5mg to 50mg CBD per serving. Our CBD Dark Chocolate Bites contain 50mg CBD per 50g bag and our Jelly Domes come in two options, either 5mg or 20mg CBD per Jelly Dome.
What do CBD edibles taste like?
CBD edibles taste like the type of edible they are. So it’s unsurprising that our moreish CBD Chocolate Bites taste like chocolate. This makes it a great way for people to try CBD without the distinctive taste.
What are CBD cosmetics?
CBD cosmetics are topical products designed to be applied to the skin containing a dose of CBD.
Is CBD legal in cosmetics?
Yes. All CBD in the UK is safe, legal and won’t get you high.
What does CBD do for the skin?
CBD in topical cosmetic products delivers the highest concentration of CBD exactly where you want it.
