There’s a rapidly growing range of CBD-infused products, with new products being released all the time. These include everything from oils, sprays, edibles and cosmetics.
So, with many different forms and flavours, how much CBD should you start with?
Since everyone has a unique experience with CBD, there is no one-size-fits-all recommended dosage. The amount you should consume depends on a variety of factors, including:
- Your age, gender and Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Your CBD tolerance and body chemistry
- The concentration of CBD in each spray, drop, capsule or chocolate
Discovering the right dosage for you will require an element of experimentation, especially if you’re new to CBD. You should avoid starting with a high dose. It’s better to start low and then slowly increase it, if you wish, to find the level that suits you.
You also have the option of split dosing with CBD, where you can take half of your daily dose in the morning, and the other half in the evening to give your body a consistent amount of CBD throughout the day. It’s all about trial and error, and finding what works for you.
How do you know how much CBD is in each bottle?
All products should state their CBD concentration on the packaging, in milligrams (mg). However, this concentration does not necessarily reflect the mg per drop, spray or dosage, depending on its form. Luckily, we’ve broken it down to take the confusion out of dosing:
For example, a single drop of Love Hemp CBD Oil (not a full pipette) is around 0.05ml. So, a 10ml bottle contains approximately 200 drops. Our 10ml bottles contain 1,000 mg of CBD, meaning each drop has approximately 5mg of CBD. So, to consume 20mg of CBD, you would need to place 4 drops under your tongue per day. (Remember to hold it there for 2 minutes before swallowing minutes to maximise absorption!)
As a general rule, we recommend starting with 7 drops of 3% CBD oil or 2 drops of 10% CBD oil, then increasing as required. However, you should avoid exceeding the maximum 70mg adult recommended dose per day.
