Believe it or not, the humble avocado has a whole day dedicated to it. 31st July is National Avocado Day! This fleshy, buttery fruit, also known as the alligator pear, or the Fruit of Persea Americana of the family Lauraceae; a tree native to the Western Hemisphere from Mexico south to the Andean regions, is nutty in flavour, rich in essential fatty acids and is a great source of vitamins C, E, K, and B-6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium.
While most people will enjoy their avocados either smashed on toast with eggs for a weekend brunch, or spicy and limey as the ever-loved guacamole, we've done a dessert twist on the avocado! Love Hemp ambassador and food blogger @pescatarianldn has created a sweet vegan CBD masterpiece, using the avocado as it's base and our dark chocolate CBD balls. Check out the recipe for this vegan CBD infused avocado chocolate mousse:
100g Love Hemp® CBD Dark Chocolate Balls, 25mg per serving
2 ripe Avocados
3tbsp Cocoa Powder
50ml Oat milk
1tsp Vanilla Extract
1 pinch of salt
3tbsp Maple syrup
Serving suggestion: Whipped Coconut Cream and Berries
- Melt the chocolate and butter over a bain-marie (place the chocolate and butter into a heat proof bowl that sits over a pan of very gently simmering water. The water level should not touch the glass). Stir until smooth and set aside to cool slightly.
- Add the slightly cooled chocolate along with the remaining ingredients into a high powered blender until silky smooth.
- Use a spatula to scrape the mixture evenly between the ramekins using the edge to create a swirled finish. Serve immediately with (opt.) whipped coconut cream and berries. For a thicker consistency, cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours and remove from the fridge 30 mins before serving.
