You’ve not left the house, have stopped touching your face and now keep a bottle of hand sanitiser in your pocket at all times, but here’s what else you can to do keep your immune system strong. After all, a healthy body is dependent on a strong immune system.
Stay active
Get out that dusty yoga mat, clean off those trainers – keeping fit is your immune system’s new best friend. According to the NHS, regular exercise not only helps control your weight, but boosts your immune system as well.
Get a good night’s sleep
Getting adequate rest may strengthen your natural immunity. If you’re having trouble sleeping, try limiting screen time for an hour before bed, as the blue light emitted from your phone, TV or computer may disrupt your body’s natural sleep cycle.
Drink plenty of water
Staying hydrated is incredibly important, and the best way to remember to keep drinking water is to always have it near you. If you find yourself forgetting, set a reminder every hour to stop and wake a few sips. Staying hydrated can help you avoid headaches, can aid digestion and give your skin that healthy glow.
Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables
Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes are rich in nutrients and antioxidants that can boost your body’s natural defences. Vegetables such as sweet potatoes, butternut squash and beetroot are also rich in beta-carotene, which helps keep the mucosal linings in our nose and lungs strong enough to fight infection.
